Martial-Arts in Education Ltd has experience in providing before and after-school martial arts classes since 2010.
We currently run classes in over 60 primary schools across the UK. We want children of this age to benefit from the healthy body and healthy minds that martial arts can instil and have a vision for the martial arts to eventually be taught to KS1 & KS2 children in a school setting nationwide.
We understand that children learn best through play and therefore our classes have been tuned over the years to give the right blend of education, discipline and fun.
We believe that the martial arts are for everyone and as well as the obvious self defence and fitness benefits It’s just as much about the internal journey children will go on.
Overcoming doubts and fears, learning about the rewards of endeavour, learning respect, manners and having a positive attitude are all reasons why we believe martial arts should be classed as education.
Our Primary School Martial Arts classes are especially formulated to get the best out of children from Year 1-Year 6.
The students will follow the club syllabus that gradually steers them to competency through their first 3 full grades giving them a strong foundation in their martial arts journey.
We teach in a fun but disciplined way and although we are teaching how to punch, kick and block, the emphasis is always on RESPECT.
Our classes include line drills (doing their basics together in a uniform way), partner work, impact pad drills, stranger danger role play and lots of games designed to increase, strength, reactions, teamwork and of course just to have fun!
For students who excel and really want to pursue the martial arts we have outside of school classes where they can carry on there training.
The Martial Arts are synonymous with many core life skills and virtues that are sometimes only generically taught and can lack structure
Hence “Champions for Life” was born.
We focus on a life skill every month in the class and the student takes a worksheet home for parents to check off how these skills have been carried out at home.
These skills are:
Courtesy, Concentration, Respect, Responsibility, Good Manners, Effort, Teamwork, Positive- Attitude, Excellence, Social Skills, Leadership and Self-Control.
The students are rewarded with a sew on badge and a certificate at the end of the month if they have enough ticks on their sheet. We also make it clear to students that they can only attain a new karate grade (belt) if they are doing well with their life skills. Hence marrying the two together.
“Developing Black Belts in the Dojo and Black Belts in Life”
Champions for Life has been really popular with parents and teachers alike and sets Martial-Arts in Education apart.
Martial-Arts in Education are proud and active members of The Anti-Bullying Alliance.
This is something that we not only believe in strongly but feel an overwhelming responsibility to make sure we instill into all of the young minds that pass through our classes.
The martial-arts teaches this by empowering students and making them less like a victim but also by teaching them humility and respect.
We work with many schools during Anti-Bullying week putting on interactive workshops and helping to educate young people in this very important subject.
“The after School Karate club on a Wednesday is one of the most popular in the school. Greg has a great report with the children. They have done some great demonstrations with the children for the parents too! I am very happy to recommend Martial-Arts in Education”
Simon Puttman – Head Teacher at Deansbrook Junior School, Mill Hill
“Joe has been teaching our years 1 and 2’s for 3 years now and have gone from strength to strength. They have a great way of teaching with both the discipline and fun being in equal proportions. I think that Martial Arts has been a great addition to our after school activities!”
Steve Brown – Health and Wellbeing team leader at Hobletts Manor Infant School, Hemel Hempstead
“Martial-Arts in Education have run a karate club for us at Pinner Wood School since 2013. They began by introducing karate to the school in an assembly and have run a weekly club ever since.
We have found Doug to be reliable and well organised. He takes the children’s safety very seriously during the club and in the handover to parents.
I can recommend Martial-Arts in Education wholeheartedly. The children have enjoyed the club and benefitted from it.
